You struggle to respond to well-meaning friends and relatives who fear for your safety alone.
You feel guilty for leaving loved ones behind and traveling on your own.
You want to go beyond the what/where/how of travel, and discover something deeper.
You’re at a stage in your life where you want to commit to yourself, whether for a weekend or a month.
At a transition point in you’re life, you know you want to travel by and for yourself, and you want to make the most meaning from it. Now is the time for you.
So you’re looking for the support of a coach who can guide you through all the phases of your journey: pre-travel, active traveling, and post-travel.
By the time you leave for your trip, you want to know your purpose for traveling.
No matter how well you plan, things happen. Plans may go awry. Unhelpful thoughts may intrude. Emotions may surface that had been dormant. When those things happen — and it’s natural that they will — it helps to have real-time support to help you manage the experience and move through it.
The journey isn’t necessarily over when the trip ends. That’s the time to process what you experienced, how you felt, what connections you made, and make meaning from your journey.
Travel isn’t always about the Instagrammable moments. It doesn’t always work out exactly how I planned. And I’m not excited! joyful! carefree! every second of the journey.
But you know what? It’s even better.
I’ve learned that I don’t leave myself behind when I travel. But I do get to explore a different side of myself. It may not be perfect. But it’s real. And it’s me.
Two months into a three-month solo journey, I was hit by all kinds of emotions: joy, awe, gratitude, excitement. And, unexpectedly, also exhaustion, guilt, melancholy.
As a practicing mental health therapist, I turned to what I knew: my mental health toolkit. I allowed myself to process and reflect on my emotions without judgment. What needs were and were not being met at the time? Did I need to adjust my expectations or my plans? Soon I felt ready to resume my travels.
It was then that I knew I would become a travel coach and help other women discover the meaning of solo travel for themselves.

A travel coach helps people use travel as a tool for self-discovery, transformation, healing and well-being, service to others, expanding cultural understanding, exploring and adventure, and more.
Very possibly! Transformation is a byproduct of change or growth. Often, people who engage in intentional travel, particularly solo travel, experience a transformation. It is best not to seek transformation, but to allow it to happen, through travel. A travel coach can help you find ways to make meaning from your travel, potentially leading to personal transformation.
Sola is a play on words. Solo refers to an individual person. Since Sola Travel Coaching is for women who travel solo, Sola is a feminization of solo.
The focus of Sola Travel Coaching is on the why of solo travel, not the where, when, and how. When you travel, how you get there, and where you stay are important details, but are not included in coaching. If you would like assistance planning the logistics of your travel, there are many travel agents and booking companies that can assist you.
Here my real-life and professional experiences intersect. Having traveled to 7 continents and 45+ countries, I have experienced the joys and challenges that can arise during a solo journey. And I am very familiar with the corresponding inner journey of growth and discovery during such travels. In addition, my prior years as a licensed professional mental health counselor formed the foundation of education, skills, and tools that I use to help guide others through their personal growth. I am also a member of the Travel Coach Network.
Additional coaching sessions are available, and can be purchased individually or in a package at a discounted rate.
